“Back in the day”, the Action Shooting Division’s match was a monthly USPSA match. A dozen or so shooters would show up the morning of a match, we’d set 3 or 4 stages, have a good time shooting them, hand key paper scoresheets into a computer and put everything away.  It was “big time” if we had enough shooters to make more than one squad.  Every so often we’d also hold a 3-gun match. 

Those days are definitely over.  Monthly USPSA matches are averaging over 100 competitors. Interest in action shooting has blossomed, now including one, sometimes two matches every weekend of every month and covering a wide variety of match formats and equipment, many even including rimfire divisions.  Some matches are focused on “run & gun action”, while others involve less movement.

While anyone can start shooting any of our matches, we generally recommend beginning with Steel Challenge, GSSF or Shoot Sig.  These matches have less movement and are tailor made to introduce shooters to action shooting with less equipment requirements and wide range of firearms allowed.  USPSA, Practical Rifle and 3-Gun all involve more movement, field courses and higher round counts. ICORE is a revolver-only match that is very similar to USPSA matches. Bowling Pin matches are held on the months that have a 5th Saturday and are “man-on-man shoot-offs”.

Important Note: Our monthly Glock Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) and Shoot Sig matches are not officially sanctioned by GSSF or Sig Sauer.  These are practice matches, following their rules; the major difference is you can shoot any centerfire pistol OR rimfire pistol you want.  Descriptions of the equipment divisions are outline on our Action Shooting website. We also host a sanctioned GSSF and Sig match each year.

1st Saturday: USPSA
2nd Saturday: GSSF and Shoot Sig alternate months; 3-Gun shoots every other month
3rd Saturday: Steel Challenge; ICORE also shoots every other month
4th Saturday: Practical Rifle
5th Saturday: Bowling Pin Match

We always have some new shooters and hold a range briefing before each match. If you are curious about our matches, come and watch.  Hearing and eye protection required.
