Training - 1911 Familiarization/Concealed Carry Techniques Class

This course is written specifically for those who possess a single action 1911 only. Single action 2011 or double stack 1911 style pistols are acceptable as well.  If you don’t possess a 1911 pistol and are looking for concealed carry techniques, please refer to the SDA Refresher class.

The 1911 class is designed to be a familiarization course and to build confidence in safely carrying the 1911/2011 frame pistols.  Safe use, and classroom as well as range safety will be heavily emphasized.  Students will do a basic field strip disassemble/assemble as well as learning and understanding cleaning techniques.  Students will also have range time developing proper drawing and holstering techniques necessary for 1911/2011 controls and use.  We will also discuss and examine malfunctions specific to the 1911

It should be noted that this class is for the single-action 1911/2011 pistol only.  No other pistol types will be allowed in the course and is STRICTLY ENFORCED.  Pistols MUST have all of the following items: Safety that locks slide in place, front barrel bushing, single action, and grip/backstrap safety.  Please bring appropriate takedown tools for your 1911.  If your pistol does not have the four mentioned items, your pistol is not eligible for this specific course. Exception is the Kimber bushingless barrel design  If you possess a Kimber bushingless barrel design, please bring the tools for takedown. 

Pistols will be inspected prior to entry into class. 

Pistols MUST be unloaded and be in a hard case for class entry for classroom safety.  NO AMMUNITION, MAGAZINES, OR RANGE BAGS will be allowed into the classroom!  Use of a strong side hip holster will be the only type that will be allowed.  No loaner guns will be available.  These policies will be strictly enforced.  Failure to follow the above protocols may lead to removal from course.

1911/2011 single-action pistol (no exceptions)

Eye/ear protection

Strong side hip holster (no exceptions)

100 rounds of ammunition

Hard case for pistol

Magazines and range bag in your vehicle


The class is limited to 10 students
